Welcome to A Healthy Appetite, a place where I share my love for all things food related. I hope to show you how simple and delicious it can be to cook for yourself, and provide you with the nutritionally sound information you need to shop for and prepare food that will nourish your body and help you feel your best.

My Story

I'm Laura, a Registered Dietitian living in Toronto, Ontario, and the recipe developer, photographer, and writer behind the blog. I love baking, bourbon, and tacos (but also a kale salad). I have always loved to cook for my family and friends but it wasn't until I went to school to study Nutrition & Dietetics that I realized how big of a role what we eat plays in our health. I wanted to create dishes that not only tasted great, but people could feel good about eating. I decided to combine my love for food and my nutritional knowledge, and A Healthy Appetite was born!

I have a love for food. This includes lots fruits and vegetables, but also the occasional croissant. The idea of A Healthy Appetite is not so much about eating "healthy" as it is about developing a healthy relationship towards food. My philosophy is to start with fresh, wholesome ingredients, prepare food yourself, all while still allowing yourself to savour life's indulgences. This approach helps you to create balance in your life that you can maintain and doesn't leave you feeling deprived. I hope that I will inspire you to get in the kitchen and develop a connection with food that makes you both healthy and happy!
